Back in the Ring Fighting Against Negative Activities

Dick Potvin founded the Southern Maine Boxing Club in 2003 out of a love for the sport paired with a belief that it could help bring a positive activity to youths otherwise only exposed to negative activities. Changing the path of young people away from harmful and destructive choices by giving them an opportunity to focus on developing a skill such as boxing has proven to change the lives of countless kids (and adults) in the Biddeford area. SMBC offers a sense of community, support and purpose to its members, fulfilling Dick’s vision, now carried on by his son, Jay Potvin.
